Sarasota, Fla., May 31, 2022 – This summer, CenterPlace Health is hosting two students participating in Notre Dame’s Summer Service Learning Program (SSLP). The program supports two senior pre-professional students who excel academically and have passed the MCAT, Lauren Crow from Ohio and Margaret Latham from Louisiana.
Crow and Latham will work with at-risk communities in Sarasota through CenterPlace Health for an 8-week period. While working, the students will receive 3 course credits and are assigned to complete readings, daily reflection journals, a final project, and personal statements. The Summer Service-Learning Program is conducted locally and financially supported by the Notre Dame Club of Greater Sarasota, including the student’s tuition, transportation room and board.
“We are thrilled to have such bright minds join us for the summer. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lisa Gonzalez-Abello, and I had the honor of presenting them both with their white coats during their CenterPlace Health orientation,” said James Reid, CenterPlace Health Interim CEO and CFO. “I know that they will learn valuable lessons from our providers and truly make an impact in our community.”
