Linda L. Stone, Ph.D., retired as CEO for CenterPlace Health, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center in Sarasota, Florida. She has worked in public health and related public service programs for low-income, culturally diverse populations since 1979. Beginning May 2, 2016, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In this role, she was charged with ensuring the timely, efficient and successful transition of a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), which served approximately 25,000 patients, from a public entity co-applicant arrangement with the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County (DOH-S) to a community-based not-for-profit 501c(3). Transition tasks included developing the methodology and processes necessary to assure a seamless transition of operations across all health center delivery sites and business functions.
Other experience includes two years, with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as the Early Intervention Program Director. Dr. Stone was in charge of the five NYC Boroughs Early Intervention Offices and the NYC Child Find and Training units Prior to that, she was the regional Early Steps Program Director, who job it was to assure the availability of a comprehensive Central Florida (Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties) network of early intervention services in compliance with federal and state guidelines.
Dr. Stone’s public policy experience includes work with the Lawton and Rhea Chiles Center for Health Mothers and Babies at the University of South Florida College of Public Health. She was responsible for project planning, budget development, technical assistance and support, and policy recommendations for Florida’s maternal and child health initiatives.
Dr. Stone graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Florida, a Master’s Degree from Stetson University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Florida. She was previously a developmental psychologist and marriage and family therapist and held state licenses for both disciplines.
